The NASCAR star spoke exclusively on his hopes for an eventual move across the Pacific to race a V8 Supercar on SPEED News Australia this week.
Although the 37-year-old, who is second in points in this year's NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup after fighting back from a spin at Kansas last weekend, is guarded on a timeline for getting out of the cockpit he is already formulating a motor-racing bucket list for when he does.
"Supercars would definitely be on the list," he told SPEED News Australia host Jessica Yates. "Whenever I can catch it on SPEED I tune in and watch.
"I love watching them, I love to hear those V8s roar. They're a proper sedan, and very nice race cars. I'd love to get that experience someday."
On SPEED News Australia on Wednesday night, Johnson revealed what else he wants to do - and what he definitely doesn't want to do! - and what he really thinks of Aussie NASCAR racer Marcos Ambrose.
Also on the show this week, Jess chatted to Will Power about his up-and-down IndyCar year, while SPEED's two-wheel expert Kevin Magee dropped by to preview this weekend's AirAsia Australian MotoGP at Phillip Island.
