Sacked Parramatta rookie Jamil Hopoate has been handed a career lifeline by Manly, the Sea Eagles signing the boom youngster for the upcoming Toyota Cup season.

Hopoate was shown the door by the Eels last year after he walked out on an NRL rookie camp.

But the Sea Eagles have given the 19-year-old a second chance and he will now have the opportunity to move through the ranks at the same club where his brother, Will, and father, John, became household names.

"Jamil understands he is starting over again and is not coming here as a superstar," Sea Eagles football manager Steve Gigg said.

"We are giving him a chance to prove himself and we will reassess him in June."

Hopoate trained with his new teammates for the first time on Monday.
