The Prime Minister's XI have set West Indies 334 runs to win in their 50-over day night match against West Indies at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
ACT Comets captain Jono Dean and fringe Australian Test player Usman Khawaja opened the batting at Canberra's Manuka Oval, with Alex Doolan and Ponting playing first and second drop respectively.
Dean scored a classy half century at the top of the order while Test hopeful Usman Khawaja (69) and Alex Doolan (87) also starred with the bat.
Power striker and crowd favourite Chris Gayle was a notable omission from the West Indies XI, ensuring his feud with PM's XI vice captain Brad Haddin won't take centre stage.
PMs XI: Ricky Ponting (capt), Brad Haddin, Fawad Ahmed, Jono Dean, Alex Doolan, James Faulkner, Peter Handscomb, Usman Khawaja, Alister McDermott, Gurinder Sandhu, Ashton Turner, Nick Winter (12th man).
West Indies squad: Darren Sammy (capt), Dwayne Bravo (vc), Kieran Powell, Johnson Charles, Darren Brown, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Kieron Pollard, Devon Thomas, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Tino Best, Jason Holder (12th man).
