The Eagles held the lead at half-time but quickly fell behind as the Cats found their run but the conditions soon caught up with them as the Eagles got back on top.
Brad Dalziell kicked a super goal for West Coast and it appeared the home team would cruise home but the Cats never say die and captain Joel Selwood kicked his own super goal with 13 seconds left on the clock to seal the victory, 1.6.4 (49) to 1.6.2 (47).
Youngster Andrew Gaff was everywhere for the Eagles while George Horlin-Smith was a standout for Geelong gathering numerous possessions.
Jack Darling was the leading forward for West Coast with three majors while James Podsiadly showed some early season form with two goals for Geelong.
More to come ...
