QUADE Cooper, Brian O'Driscoll and Charles Piutau may be at different stages of their international careers but they all had one thing in common at the weekend - outrageous exhibitions of individual skill.

After England and Australia played out a dour beginning to the November series, Test rugby roared into life at the weekend as some of the game's best turned on the style, and showmanship, across Europe.

The Wallabies kicked off the weekend's action with an improved effort against Italy, despite a poor start where they found themselves 10-0 down early on.

After recovering from a shaky start Ewen McKenzie's side piled on 50 points with playmaker Cooper throwing more dummies than a teething one-year-old to set up the second of Nick Cummins's two tries.

Just a couple of hours later it was the grand old man of the Emerald Isle, O'Driscoll, who turned on the trickery as Ireland began life under Joe Schmidt with a 40-9 hammering of Samoa.

Starting his farewell international season in superb fashion, the four-time Lions tourist looped a little pass between his legs in the lead-up to Sean O'Brien's five-pointer.

Just hours after O'Driscoll walked from Aviva Stadium to a standing ovation - no doubt the first of many over the coming few months - one of the rising stars of world rugby announced himself on the world stage.

Playing just his second Test, All Blacks flyer Piutau showed teammates Cory Jane and Julian Savea won't be automatic selections on the flanks in the lead-up to the 2015 World Cup.

And if All Blacks coach Steve Hansen hadn't seen enough when Piutau produced a determined chase for the game's opening try, then his incredible flick pass to release Kieran Read must have raised a smile on the usually stone-faced Kiwi.

What about the forwards you ask? Well, there was one man who managed to squeak his way into our highlights reel - Wallabies hooker Stephen Moore.

And it may have even been the inspiration for Piutau's effort too, with Moore flicking a sneaky ball to replacement winger Joe Tomane for another Wallabies try.

The skills are on show this November - be sure to tune in this weekend.
