ALASTAIR Cook has been dismissed after producing his best knock of the Ashes series to steady England on day two of the Third Test in Perth.
The England captain was caught by David Warner off the bowling of Nathan Lyon on 72.
Playing in his 100th Test, Cook earlier produced a half-century to lead the tourists to 2-118 at drinks in the final session, having earlier bowled Australia out for 385.

The English skipper found a willing ally in Kevin Pietersen, who was unusually circumspect in creeping to 4 off 40 balls as Australia's bowlers put a clamp on scoring.
In stifling conditions that saw the temperature top 40C at the WACA Ground, Cook looked composed at the crease as he set about trying to keep his country alive in the series.
He formed an 85-run stand with Michael Carberry for the first wicket before a double-strike late in the middle session of the day handed Australia the ascendency.
Joe Root was the victim of an unlucky dismissal after he was adjudged to be caught behind off the bowling of Shane Watson shortly before tea.
Root reviewed umpire Marais Erasmus' decision, and while Hot Spot failed to show any significant mark, Snicko suggested the faintest of noises as the ball passed the outside edge of the bat.
Root shook his head as he trudged off for 4, leaving Cook and Pietersen to carry England's innings.
Ryan Harris (1-21) produced the initial breakthrough in the searing heat, ending an 85-run stand for the opening wicket when Carberry (43) deflected a ball onto his stumps while trying to leave.
It was fine reward for effort for the hard-working seamer, who maintained a disciplined line and length to lead the Australian attack on the bouncy Perth deck.
Australia's bowlers rallied late in the middle session after a luckless start, with England managing just 19 runs in the second hour as scoring became harder to come by.
The pressure eventually told on Carberry and Root, with the sun-drenched WACA crowd coming to life as a sea breeze provided some relief from the blistering heat.
