GOLD Coast have secured the brightest prospect in the AFL for another two years with Jaeger O'Meara re-signing with the Suns.
O'Meara, 19, is the unbackable favourite for this year's NAB Rising Star award after an outstanding debut season with the Gold Coast and has been widely tipped to become a superstar of the competition.
Both West Coast and Fremantle were poised to launch massive bids to lure the WA product home but he will remain at Metricon Stadium until the end of 2016.
O'Meara was already signed for 2014 but such has been his impact this season, the Suns wanted him locked away as soon as possible, for as long as possible.
He was happy to sign on the dotted line with the Suns to cash-in on the good times with the potential powerhouse.
"We still have a heap of hard work ahead of us, but I believe we have the chance to build something special here on the Gold Coast, and that's something I really want to be a part of,'' O'Meara said.
After arriving at the Suns through the 2011 mini-draft, O'Meara spent 2012 in the second-tier NEAFL as he was not allowed to play senior football.
He has delivered on the hype that surrounded his much-anticipated senior debut.
O'Meara became the youngest player in more than a decade to collect 30 disposals in a match when he starred in the round 12 loss to Essendon.
O'Meara has averaged 22 disposals per match as well as 10 contested possessions and four clearances per game. He has kicked 10 goals and had 11 scoring assists. He has not missed a game this season.
He is the 12th Suns player to re-sign with the club in 2013.
Meanwhile, the Gold Coast have made two changes for tomorrow's match against Collingwood with Mav Weller and Alex Sexton replacing David Swallow (knee) and Tom Murphy (omitted).
